Walk It Out Wednesdays


March 28th-June 20th, 5:30pm: Walk It Out Wednesdays Departing from the East Point Farmer's Market, 2757 East Point Street, every Wednesday at 5:30pm. The program is a part of the City's "The Healthy Point" initiative aimed at increasing healthy lifestyle choices. FREE registration for this initiative is currently underway. During the Healthy Initiative, residents will have the opportunity to work out with Mayor/Council up to three times a week for 90 days. Registered participants will also receive:

1. FREE Physical activities for all ages
2. FREE Health assessment
3. FREE Nutritional Tips
4. FREE Health incentives and prizes

Rain or Shine. Markets are held in the Downtown Commons, 2757 East Point St. (behind the East Point Library & one block from the EP MARTA Station). Come and get your fresh produce, baked goods, handmade art and dinner all at the same place! The farmer's market, thru a partnership with Wholesome Wave Georgia thru the "Georgia Fresh for Less" program, doubles SNAP benefits (up to $50) on eligible market items. So a $50 swipe on the EBT card = $100 in market tokens to be used to purchase eligible items). Please help us spread the word by sharing this on social media and with friends, neighbors and family.

April 5th: Monthly Business Meeting from 8:30am-10am. NEW LOCATION: Kupcakerie, 2781 Main Street. Come talk business over some breakfast and coffee with fellow businesses and a representative from the Department of Economic Development, along with a representative from the East Point Police Department providing information about public safety in your area. First Thursday of each month excluding holidays and special events.





April 14, 10am-2pm: Paper Shredding Event. Keep East Point Beautiful will host and implement a paper shredding for citizens on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the East Point Historical Society Complex, 1685 Norman Berry Dr. 10 volunteers are needed. To volunteer, please contact Frances Kennedy, fkennedy@eastpointcity.org




April 14, 9am: The Sickle Cell Road Race/Walk is a RRCA-certified State Championship race — a major attraction for runners! The race is foremost a charitable event, with proceeds supporting the nonprofit mission and programs of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Inc. SCFG serves people affected by sickle cell disease and the sickle cell trait — both are genetic blood disorders.

Participants will run the challenging 7k (4.3 miles) course or walk the comfortable 4k (2.5 miles) course down Main Street and through East Point‘s diverse communities. While in town, everyone will get a glimpse of the downtown growth, convenient transit, neighborhood charm, hospitality, and robust businesses like yours, which the City of East Point offers.  The 7k run is chip timed, the course is certified, and it’s a Peachtree Road Race qualifier. We race sun or rain.

The 2018 race will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Tri-Cities High School located at 2575 Harris Street in East Point, GA. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. You can register for the race through the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia’s website http://sicklecellga.org/events/39th-annual-sickle-cell-road-racewalk/




Bulk Amnesty Week



April 16-19th: Bulk Amnesty Week . East Point resident's bulk waste should be placed at front curb by 7:30am on their regular trash collection day. For more information regarding eligible items, visit: http://www.eastpointcity.org/amnesty-week/


April, 21, 8am-2pm: Great American Clean-up: Citywide Clean-up in East Point will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The goal is to have as many Neighborhood Associations as possible to host clean-ups in their area.Please contact Frances Kennedy for more information, fkennedy@eastpointcity.org





May 5, 11am-2pm: 13th Annual Community Health Expo produced by The City of East Point Fire Department. Event will be held at Saturday, May 5th, 2018, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.East Point City Annex 3121 Norman Berry Drive.




May 5th,1pm-7pm: Taste of East Point and the South Metro Area. A Showcase of the Food, Art, Businesses & Community Groups in and around the South Metro Area. This showcase will be held in the Downtown Commons, 2757 East Point St. Visit www.downtowneastpoint.com for more information.
