Walter Vinson is the Manager of Government & Community Engagement for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. As Government & Community Engagement Manager, Mr. Vinson oversees the Intergovernmental Affairs, Community Affairs, Special Events and the Office of Protocol operations for the airport.
Prior to coming to Hartsfield-Jackson, Mr. Vinson was the Legislative Administrator for Fulton County Government in Atlanta, GA. During his time there, Mr. Vinson was responsible for developing and operating the county’s federal lobbying program. Mr. Vinson has over eighteen years of experience in government dating back to his days as a congressional aide in Washington, D.C. where he served as the Legislative Director for Congressman Bennie Thompson and as a Minority Staff Director on the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Vinson is a member of the National Forum for Black Administrators and Kappa Alpha Psi Incorporated. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Vinson received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alcorn State University and a master’s in public administration from Bowie State University. Mr. Vinson is married to a lovely wife, Cathy, and has a son, Walter III.
