Message from the City Manager

Greetings South Fulton,

Spring has sprung in the City of South Fulton, and we’re celebrating the month of April with exciting announcements. The City is committed to open and transparent communication with the citizens of South Fulton. That promise is evident with the deployment of multiple initiatives including the upcoming South Fulton 101 Webinar on April 6, 2019.

Focused development and vitality is a top priority for the City, and I am excited to announce the upcoming launch of the City's Economic Development Strategic Plan. I am also honored to share that the City received $1.027 Million in Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) funding from the State of Georgia. This funding will assist the City in expanding transportation to move South Fulton Forward.

We are now less than a year away from National Census Day on April 1, 2020. The census is an important opportunity to ensure everyone in the City of South Fulton is counted in order to bring important resources to our community. Our Mayor and City Council have initiated a Complete Count Committee to involve community members and aid in these efforts. I encourage you to get involved.

April is certain to be another productive and exciting month. I am thankful for your engagement and cooperation as we work to make the City of South Fulton a reflection for your collective vision and a shining example of exemplary municipal service. Please enjoy this offering as a highlight of March activities and a look ahead for April.

COSF ZONING REWRITE

The City of South Fulton is evolving. This means our planning and development goals have advanced to allow for the City to re-position itself as the regional community of the future!

In an effort to further those initiatives, the City of South Fulton recently contracted with Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions (Wood Group) to conduct a comprehensive update to the City’s Zoning Ordinance. The Zoning Ordinance Rewrite process is important to the officials and residents of the City of South Fulton, and public involvement is a critical component.

The goals of the project are to:

·     Update the City’s zoning codes by eliminating potential conflicts and redundancies

·     Consider recent zoning trends

·     Improve zoning trends readability and ease of use

The process will examine applicable City codes and ordinances that may be outdated and in need of revisions, including the development and sign regulations. The Woods Group and City staff will work with a Steering Committee to gather feedback on proposed revisions and updates throughout the process over the next nine months. The public will have an opportunity to share their comments through the project’s Zoning Ordinance Survey.

Click Here to access the online Zoning Ordinance Survey.

Click Here to access the PDF version of the Zoning Ordinance Survey. Please email the PDF version of the survey to cosfzoningrewrite@peqatl.com. The survey will also be available via the City’s website and by participating in various public engagement activities.

Public Meetings began on Saturday, March 30, 2019 and will continue through completion of the zoning re-write process. The re-write is forecast to be complete in December 2019. Please visit the City's website at www.CityofSouthFultonGa.gov for upcoming public meetings.
