Y. Dyan Matthews is President & C.E.O. of the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce. Dyan accepted this role in early 2010 and within the past two years, she has spearheaded the organizations new branding campaign and its move to a new location providing more visibility and opportunity for the Chamber and its 300+ members. She is responsible for the daily operations of the Chamber including expanding and improving the organizations programs, events and membership marketing opportunities. Dyan is especially proud of receiving a grant from the Fulton County Development Authority to produce a new Marketing Guide & Business Directory for South Fulton County, which will be unveiled soon. She also created the Chamber’s Corporate Ambassador Program and has kicked of the Chamber’s Business Retention & Recruitment Program.
Prior to her current role with the Chamber, Dyan was the Chief of Staff to Fulton County Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards. Serving in this position since November 2000, Dyan was responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the District 7 offices and staff. Dyan handled all of the District 7 marketing and public relations projects including managing the operations of the Wolf Creek Summer Concert Series, producing the South Futon Good Things Show” and directing the production of the South Fulton Good Things video and theme song.
For twenty years, Dyan has owned and operated a public relations firm specializing in projects for non-profit organizations including the Old National Merchants Association and the Wrap-Around Collaborative, which was comprised of Parent University, the Out of School Alternative Suspension Program and Red Carpet Schools. Additionally, she is the former Manager of International Media Relations & Media Tours for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG)
Active in several community and non-profit organizations, Dyan is a 2010 graduate of the Whitehouse Project “Go Run,” a member of the 1990 charter class of Leadership South Fulton, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Vice President of Programs for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, MECCA Chapter, the Fulton County Chair of the Southern Crescent Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, and a former member of the City of Fairburn Development Authority and Planning & Zoning Commission.
Dyan earned a B.A. Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from Morris Brown College. She and her husband Bill have three children and seven grandchildren and are members of The Catholic Church of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The Matthews reside in unincorporated South Fulton County.
